Annette Caltabiano

Annette was fortunate that at a young age she realised an artistic career was what she wanted to pursue. In 1984 finding a makeup school in her local area that she could attend was limiting, and by today's standard the education on offer was confined to very basic makeup training.

Still Annette attended every class, every course she could find, spoke to as many people in the industry that would listen, and learned from them.

She worked on as many photo-shoots as she could, and to sustain herself with a regular income she began working for a cosmetics company as a travelling consultant. Annette enjoyed working and during this period she was able to practice makeup and people skills.

Annette continued to build on her freelance makeup artistry, doing makeup after makeup. She found great artistic delight in the images that would be created working with photographers, beautiful models, and advertising agencies. Finally, Annette started working in television.

As the Head of hair, makeup and wardrobe for Channel Seven Brisbane, Annette loves her job, the people she works with, and the challenges it brings. Through this, she has the opportunity to work with many different people over the years, and her work has taken her to many different locations all over the world. Annette continues to freelance when time permits.

Teaching, and sharing experiences about an industry she loves, has become an important part of Annette's work and in 2002, she began teaching. It's a way Annette can give back to the industry that she is extremely passionate about. Annette has been training at the Brisbane Academy since it opened its doors, she continually loves to learn new skills, her current interests being period hair design, mould making and casting.
